There are steps that slip,
and steps that skid,
steps that fall,
and steps that skip,
steps that are heavy,
steps that are mild,
steps that are meek,
steps that are wild.
There are steps that smash,
and steps that spin,
steps that fly,
and steps that sing,
steps that are broken,
steps that are sound,
steps that are free,
and steps that are bound.
There are steps that change,
by the minute,
by the moment,
steps that remain forever,
steps that make men tremble,
and steps that make them awed.
There are many kinds of steps,
indeed,
but yours
will do for me.
